Figure this out

You are walking down a lone and lonesome road.
Untill you finally get to a spot where the road splits into two different ways.
You've heard about this place, one of the turns will lead you to death, the other one will lead you home.
There are two brothers at this spot, they both know wich way leads to where, though, one of the brothers always speaks the truth, and one always lies.
You have only one question to ask to either one of them before they despawn.
How do you get home?

When you have let your brains do the work and finally took the right way you come passed a holy all-knowing paladin.
He judges you for you cheated destiny in your younger years.
You shall be executed, but the paladin gives you one last chance to escape your fate again.
You may have one more, last statement. If the statement is true, you will be hanged, if the statement is a lie, you will be shot.
What will you state to escape death?
